VP, Financial Services
Chief Growth Officer
With almost 20 years of experience in business strategy and development, Gerti Dervishi is a founding member of the Flybits team. Since 2012, he has served a number of roles including customer success, product management, strategy, implementation, and, most recently, forging international partnerships and consulting with some of the world’s leading brands. Prior to Flybits, Gerti honed his skills at leading organizations such as CIBC and IBM. Gerti holds a B.Sc. in Engineering from the University of Ottawa, an MBA from Ryerson University, and a Masters in Management Finance from Harvard University.
For more than a decade, Petar Kramaric has contributed to ground-breaking work in cloud computing and mobile development. A founding member of the Flybits team since 2008, Petar was part of the initial research group that built the IP for the future of the company. Presently, as VP of Platforms, he is responsible for evolving and developing the platform to meet current and future customer needs. Petar is a graduate of Ryerson University where he completed both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Computer and Data Science.
As one of the founding members, Ankur Patel has spent the past decade as a member of Flybits’ best-in-class team of engineers. Currently, Ankur is one of the Engineering team leaders with a focus on making the platform flexible and scalable without compromising on quality and performance. During his time at Flybits, Ankur has been a software engineer and contributed significantly to the development of the platform. He has led Front-End and Squad teams to develop and maintain applications to integrate and expose capabilities of the platform to developers and marketers. Ankur has a Bachelor of Science from Ryerson University.
Managing Director, Europe
Mark Reeves is a highly respected leader with more than three decades consulting to financial institutions globally. As Flybits’ Managing Director of Europe, Mark is responsible for guiding regional growth and cementing the status of Flybits in the market. Prior to joining Flybits, Mark was part of the leadership team at Capco, supporting their offices in London and New York through rapid growth. Mark also consulted to the capital markets industry, wealth managers and new age banks for companies such as Deloitte, TCA and City Practitioners. His early career was with Natwest Bank. Mark earned his MA at the University of St. Andrews.
Deborah Beatty is a digital strategist and business builder with broad global experience. Before Flybits, Deborah was at Apple Inc in Dubai, as Head of Strategy for Middle East & Africa, driving the company’s long term plans for the region, and responsible for partnerships with financial institutions. Deborah has also been the COO of Monitor Company’s Middle East consulting practice and the Vice President of Digital at two of Canada’s leading media companies. Deborah started her career as a strategy consultant for Monitor Company in Boston, New York and London. Deborah has an MBA from INSEAD and a BA from Princeton University.
VP, Customer Success
Sean Frigault has over 15 years of experience in the FinTech sector, mainly in Sales and Business development, as well as key positions in product, engineering, project management and operations. At Flybits, Sean leads the sales and business development team and is responsible for overall revenue growth for the company. Sean has extensive experience managing complex strategic projects at global organizations such as Finastra, FCT (Division of First American Corporation), D+H, and CIBC. He has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from McGill University, an MBA from the University of Toronto, and a certificate with Lean Six Sigma.
Justin Lam is one of the founding members of Flybits, having joined the team prior to incorporation as a Blackberry Developer. Currently, Justin is Director of Software Tools and Applications. During his time at Flybits, Justin has been a mobile and web specialist and a software engineer on the Product team. He has focused his effort and skills on web development and has contributed to advancing the Android and iOS capabilities of the platform. He has also worked on development teams at Bell Mobility and AstraZeneca in areas of information systems and product realization. Justin has a Bachelor of Science from Ryerson University.
VP, Product Management
Jordanne Pavao has spent the past 5 years contributing to the successful development of the Flybits product. As VP of Product, Jordanne leads the entire product lifecycle from strategy to tactics. Jordanne’s interest is in building high performing product teams, and translating scientific and abstract digital capabilities into intuitive and scalable user experiences. Jordanne has a B.F.A. in Image Arts and a Master’s Degree in Media Production, both from Ryerson University.
Director, US Enterprise Solutions
Matt Singleton is a results-oriented leader with more than 15 years of experience in financial services. As the US Director of Enterprise Solutions at Flybits, Matt leads our New York office where he works with clients to leverage Flybits’ leading platform to transform their ability to deliver contextualized customer engagement. Prior to Flybits, Matt helped financial services firms in Asia, Europe, & the US utilize digital innovation and advanced analytics to improve the customer experience. He has worked with Barclays, Deutsche Bank, Manulife, TIAA, Morgan Stanley, Bank of New York Mellon, Merrill Lynch, American Express, and JPMorgan Chase. Matt holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA in Economics from Dartmouth College.
VP, Mid-Market Sales
Aaron Booth is a growth-oriented leader with 15+ years of B2B experience and demonstrated success in growing revenue, building and managing teams, and executing strategy. Prior to Flybits, Aaron worked at GE Capital for 5 years in mid-market corporate finance in both a Sales and Risk capacity and managed partnerships with leading Global equipment manufacturers. Prior to that, Aaron worked at a number of successful fintech SaaS companies, always with a focus on the customer journey, revenue, sales and success. Aaron holds a BBA in Information Systems from Cape Breton University, and an MBA in Finance from Dalhousie.
Director, Enterprise Solutions
Jay Graver leads the Solutions Team at Flybits, responsible for delivering innovations that address business challenges. Prior to joining Flybits he was the Global Solution Sales Director for the Americas at Giesecke & Devrient. He has worked extensively in the payments and information security industries and has brought several mobile payments solutions to market, from pre-sales design through to commercial launch. As a Lead Engineer for an international network security vendor, Jay led cryptography and vulnerability research projects. Jay is a University of Guelph graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Systems and Computing.
Special Executive Advisor
Sheldon Levy is a higher education leader and visionary with a passion for innovation, entrepreneurship, and the digital economy. An instrumental figure in the recent growth of Toronto’s innovation ecosystem, his roles have included President and Vice Chancellor of Ryerson University (2005-15), Ontario Deputy Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Development (2015-17), CEO of NEXT Canada (2017-18), and founder of the Brookfield Institute for Innovation + Entrepreneurship. In December 2018, Sheldon was appointed Special Advisor to Canada’s Minister of Small Business and Export Promotion.
Alex 'Sandy' Pentland
Special Executive Advisor
Professor Sandy Pentland directs MIT Connection Science, an MIT-wide initiative, and previously helped create and direct the MIT Media Lab. He is one of the most-cited computational scientists in the world, and Forbes recently declared him one of the “7 most powerful data scientists in the world”. He is on the Board of the UN Foundations’ Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data, co-led the World Economic Forum discussion in Davos that led to the EU privacy regulation GDPR, and was central in forging the transparency and accountability mechanisms in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. He is a member of advisory boards for the UN Secretary General and the UN Foundation, and previously for the American Bar Association, Google, AT&T, and Nissan.
VP, People & Organizational Design
Hannah Yardley is a seasoned talent advisor, focusing on helping organizations forge the connection between great strategy and great talent. After a decade advising Fortune 500 clients on how to best solve their toughest talent challenges, Hannah joined the Flybits leadership team as VP, People and Culture. She spends most of her day helping Flybits scale its growth journey, while continuing to make the organization a hive for great talent in Toronto and across the globe. Hannah has an honours degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business.
VP, Enterprise Innovation
Jason Davies has more than 20 years of experience in Marketing, Digital Payments, and Fintech. As VP of Enterprise Innovation, Jason is responsible for leveraging next generation platforms and technology to solve Flybits’ customers’ business problems and create new growth opportunities for the company. He has held senior positions at Mastercard, including Head of Digital Payments and Labs in Canada, and Global Product Development for Mastercard’s Managed Services division, and has also worked in CPG and Retail. Jason holds Hons. B.A.s in Psychology and Economics, from McGill University and McMaster University, and an MBA from the University of Windsor.
Chief Operating Officer
Brian Jamieson is a dynamic leader and entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience leading technology companies through rapid periods of growth. Brian’s focus at Flybits is managing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of the company while ensuring the company scales up to deliver an exceptional customer and partner experience. During his career, Brian has held a variety of general management roles, including COO of Lone Wolf Technologies and SVP of Operations with HighJump Inc.. Brian holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University as well as an MBA from Queen’s University.
Arman Masoumi comes from an AI background, with success in the fields of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, AI Planning, and Machine Learning. Over the past decade, he has served a variety of roles for Flybits, and prior to that at IBM. As one of the founding members of Flybits, Arman has focused most of his time on design and implementation of the platform from the system and infrastructure perspectives. Currently, as VP of Engineering, he focuses on delivering the optimized recommendations for Flybits financial service customers, and their consumers. Arman holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Computer Science from Ryerson University.
Dr. Hossein Rahnama
Founder & CEO
Dr. Hossein Rahnama, founder and CEO of Flybits, is recognized globally as a leader in AI, mobile human-computer interaction and the effective design of data-driven services. He is a visiting professor at the MIT Media Lab and professor at Ryerson University. Rahnama has written 30 publications and received 10 patents in ubiquitous computing. He was a co-founder of the #1 university-based incubator in the world, The Digital Media Zone at Ryerson University. In 2012, MIT Technology Review selected him as one of the Top 35 Innovators under the age of 35 globally. In 2017, he became one of Canada’s Top 40 under 40.
Managing Director, MEA
Amir Yazdanpanah is an entrepreneurial IT executive with extensive experience in software product development, product sales & marketing, business operations and P/L management. In his 20+ years career he has held CEO/COO/CIO positions in the US, UK and UAE. Amir started his career at large corporations and subsequently founded a telecom software company, Telarix, in 1996. After moving to Dubai in 2011, Amir became COO of Voicetrust, an international identity and digital payment solutions provider. Amir also founded a technology education company in UAE focusing on providing Innovation and STEM education to K-12 institutions and students.
