What brought you to Flybits?
I actually started out as a co-op student from University of Waterloo’s Computer Engineering program. Never having worked at a fintech before, I was fascinated by the unique solutions that Flybits offered in the financial space. I was instantly immersed in the workplace culture as soon as I joined the company. Since then, the work that I have been tackling has been challenging and rewarding, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

What’s something unique about yourself throughout your life journey?
I am quite shy and reserved when you first meet me, but once you get to know me all bets are off! Over the years I have learned to embrace the chaos in my personality and share that with the people in my life. Seeing as there are people who still consider me their friend, I’d say it has worked out quite well for me. There’s never a dull moment!

Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
My parents have been such a big inspiration in many areas of my life, but especially in my career. Apparently, they had a feeling I would end up pursuing something like engineering because I would take apart all my toys to inspect the inner workings when I was a toddler. My dad, who is a software engineer, eventually introduced me to software development. One thing led to another and well… you can see how that turned out!

What is your absolute dream job?
Professional dog cuddler. Professional dog bff. Need I say more?

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“Just because someone failed to see the value in what we can create or achieve doesn’t change its worth or ours.” — Brené Brown
