Tell us how you got into the financial services industry?
I discovered the true potential of consumer payments data working for BP Europe’s fleetcard expansion. Driven by a desire to launch and build businesses, I joined Citibank’s European credit card expansion and have since launched and built payments businesses for Citi, Barclays, Visa, and HSBC across the globe.

What do you love about what you do?
As a Chemical Engineer, I am fascinated by the insights that can be obtained from consumer payments and digital behaviour that then enable customer profiling to drive performance optimisation and simplify customer experiences.

Who or what is your greatest inspiration?
Google

The digital era enables mass personalisation and ensures the customer gets what they want, when they need it whilst remaining in control.

What about working at Flybits excites you?
For several years I have been looking for the right chance to move into the Fintech world. With Flybits I am excited by the scope to use contextual data to anticipate customer needs whilst leveraging a platform that simplifies and speeds up delivery to financial institutions.

What about the current financial services landscape do you find most exciting?
The radical shift upstream with mobile usage and digital behavior enabling businesses to profile customers and anticipate their needs in real-time. In this manner, the digital era enables mass personalisation and ensures the customer gets what they want, when they need it whilst remaining in control.

When you’re not being “bank-y,” what are you doing for fun?
I have a reputation for pushing the envelope with radical sports and confess to being an adrenaline junky. As a result, I do have the scars to show but believe that it makes you appreciate life more as well as showing you what you are capable of.

You’ve lived in many different places, which is your favorite, and why?
As a Brit, married to a French lady, and with kids born across the continent, we have adopted Portugal as our family home. We love the people, the climate, food, wine, and outdoor life…Europe’s California!
